Ann Beattie papers [manuscript], 1975-2006.

This addition to the Ann Beattie papers consists of miscellaneous correspondence, review copies of books, a photograph,and typescript of short stories, including "Mr. Nobody At All," "Monica," "Marie, Marie," and "The Rock" and an essay "The Pleasures of Perplexity." There is also a typescript of "Where we do our work" by Frederick Busch. The collection also contans a paper napkin with an autographed limerick from Mary Lee Settle to Ann Beattie, 1981, and photographs of Settle and Beattie together at Monticello, 1996. The collection also contains audiocassettes of Beattie reading two of her short stories from "Perfect recall" "The Women of this world" and "The famous poet Amid Bougainvillea" and one of Beattie reading with Nathan Englander at the PEN Malamud Award ceremony, December 8, 2000. There is also an audiocassette of a WAMU-FM Kaleidoscope interview with Beattie after delivering a commencement address at American University. Joan Mondale is a correspondent.
